Tough Armor T costs $59.99 and uses triple-layer construction with AI-optimized XRD foam. It has built-in MagSafe compatibility, a kickstand and a touch-sensitive Camera Control cover. Spigen describes the current case with military-grade Extreme Protection Tech and lists a two-year manufacturing warranty.
It is the better fit for buyers who want a rugged everyday case without moving into the higher-price tactical category. The integrated stand also avoids relying on a separate belt holster.
Pelican Shield: higher manufacturer drop claim and lifetime warranty
Pelican Shield costs $69.99. The current iPhone 17 Carbon Fiber model uses multi-layer heavy-duty construction, built-in MagSafe magnets and textured sides. Pelican publishes a 24-foot / 6X drop-protection claim and backs the case with a lifetime warranty.
The package also includes a 360-degree belt-clip holster that doubles as a viewing stand. That gives Pelican a different rugged-use proposition from Spigen Tough Armor T.
Current Pelican Shield is carbon fiber, not the old Kevlar story
The previous CASEBX article described Pelican Shield using Kevlar/aramid-fiber language carried over from older products. The current iPhone 17 Shield product page reviewed for this update specifies carbon fiber. Product materials can change by generation, so a current review should name the exact SKU rather than repeating older family descriptions.
Protection: do not compare 24 feet with an invented Spigen height
Pelican publishes 24 feet / 6X for Shield. Spigen’s current Tough Armor T page uses military-grade and Extreme Protection Tech language rather than the old CASEBX fixed-height rating. The prior article filled that gap with a fabricated laboratory score.
This update does not do that. Pelican’s 24-foot figure is a manufacturer claim, and Spigen’s protection language is also manufacturer-supplied. Without one independent identical protocol, they are not directly interchangeable metrics.
MagSafe and accessories
Both current cases have magnetic compatibility. Pelican Shield includes built-in MagSafe magnets, while Spigen sells Tough Armor T as a Mag Fit model. CASEBX did not independently measure magnetic pull force, so the old gram-force comparison has been removed.
