Spigen Ultra Hybrid Mag Fit costs $44.99 and uses a polycarbonate back with TPU bumper, Air Cushion corner technology, built-in Mag Fit magnets and DuraClear resin intended to improve long-term clarity. The current iPhone 17 version also protects Camera Control with a thin TPU layer.

Spigen Rugged Armor Mag Fit is $39.99 and combines flexible TPU with impact foam, carbon-fiber-inspired styling, a non-slip finish and built-in magnets. Spigen describes it with military-grade protection language.
Ringke Onyx Magnetic is $26.99. It is a slim TPU case with built-in magnets, an anti-fingerprint granulate back, micro-embossed sides and strap holes. This makes Onyx a compelling value choice if tactile grip matters more than Spigen's impact-foam structure.
The old article said CASEBX had proven Onyx was “virtually impossible” to drop when wet. That hands-on claim was unsupported and has been removed.
Rugged choices: Tough Armor T vs Fusion-X Magnetic
These two are not feature-for-feature equivalents. Spigen Tough Armor T costs $59.99 and uses triple-layer construction with AI-optimized XRD foam, an integrated kickstand, MagSafe compatibility and a capacitive Camera Control cover.
Ringke Fusion-X Magnetic is $24.99 and uses a clear polycarbonate back with a rugged TPU bumper, micro-embossed sides and strap holes. It is the much cheaper tactical-looking option, but it does not include Tough Armor T's integrated stand or XRD foam system.
Protection: no invented 6–8-foot tie
The previous article concluded that the rugged models “easily survive 6 to 8 feet.” CASEBX did not document a controlled current-model test to support that statement. Spigen publishes military-grade protection language on current rugged models; Ringke describes Fusion-X as a high-protection clear case. Those claims should remain in their original manufacturer context.
MagSafe: check the exact product name
Both brands make current magnetic cases, but the model name matters. Ringke uses “Magnetic” in the iPhone 17 products compared here; Spigen uses “Mag Fit.” Do not assume every low-cost case in either catalog has an integrated magnet.
